Village where you can start this stage: Orgal
This stage starts in the village of Castelo Melhor, near the Reception Centre from the Côa Archeological Park. The path is done through walled tracks, among olivetrees and vineyards. At a certain point it is possible to take an optional track to the Chapel of São Gabriel (without signs), from where one gets a panoramic view over all the Côa valley.
The Route goes on through pastures and old agricultural areas, passing by the village of Orgal. There, with the road EN222 nearby, one can find an alternative track for mountain-biking and horse-riding, signaled in its limit points ('Desvio BTT/Equestre Orgal').
The Route gets closer to the mouth of the Côa, crossing large areas of vineyard and going down in a zigzag through a footpath until the road bridge over the Côa. Here one can get an optional way to visit the mouth of the Côa (without signs), where it meets the Douro.
The Route passes the road bridge, then getting out of the car road at the first turn. It goes up the hill along the Valley of Forno, making use of a walled and cobbled street at a certain point. Near the car road there is an alternative track to the Route for mountain-biking and horse-riding, signaled in its limit points ('Desvio BTT/Equestre Museu do Côa'). Once the hilltop is reached, the Route proceeds by car road until finally arriving at the Côa Museum.
